Huron Style sheath very similar to examples in the British Museum as well as the Museum of Civilization in Canada.   This type of sheath dates from mid to late 18th century.  This sheath will accomodate a scalper type knife with a blade length of 6 1/2"-7".

This bag was based on an existing example in the collections of the Detroit Institute of Art.  Although this pouch is currently being attributed to the Eastern Dakota, this bag was probably made by the Sauk.
